Pulmuone Holdings Co., Ltd., Korea is a proud, participating member of the UN Global Compact. This group addresses strategic policy initiatives that impact business. Members are committed to aligning their company’s operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor management, environment and anti-corruption.

The Global Compact pursues two complementary objectives:

  • Mainstream the Global Compact’s ten principles in business activities around the world
  • Catalyze actions in support of broader UN goals, including the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs)

The UN Global Compact asks companies to embrace, support and enact, within their sphere of influence, a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labor standards, the environment and anti-corruption:

PRINCIPLE 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.

PRINCIPLE 2: Make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

PRINCIPLE 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.

PRINCIPLE 4: The elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor.

PRINCIPLE 5: The effective abolition of child labor.

PRINCIPLE 6: The elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

PRINCIPLE 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.

PRINCIPLE 8: Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.

PRINCIPLE 9: Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

PRINCIPLE 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Our CEO, Dr. Young Chul Kang, places great importance on the notion of “One Firm Spirit.” This encompasses our dedication to the company values and in giving back to the community that we serve. As a food manufacturer we realize the importance of providing high quality, nutritious food to all our consumers.

We have partnered with Feeding America food banks to donate food from our manufacturing facilities to the local communities. Since 2007, we have donated over 280,000 pounds of food (114,240 pounds to America’s Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and 165,851 pounds to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties) for families in need. Our efforts have been recognized as we have received the Top Community Donor Award from Second Harvest Food Bank.

At Pulmuone Foods USA, Inc. we realize there is much more work needed to be done in the fight against hunger and we will continue to support our local communities in this fight.
